Subject: [The Edge] Call for Submissions

Dear Freelancers & OTE Fanatics,

This letter is going out to a whole slew of folks who have worked on OTE =
in=0Athe past or expressed interest in doing so. It's also going to the =
EdgeList=0A(sorry to those who get duplicates as a result). We're starti=
ng a new=0Acollective work, and this is your invitation to join. Details=
(and our=0Astandard release form) are pasted below...

- -John Nephew
President, Atlas Games

Call for Submissions
"At Your Service" (Working Title)

We are beginning work on a new sourcebook for Over the Edge. This source=
book=0Awill detail a host of new establishments (typically but not necess=
arily=0Abusinesses) to populate the the city of the Edge and the island o=
f Al Amarja.

Each new business should be described in the same general format as the=
=0Abusinesses in Chapter 5 of Over the Edge. Namely, they should include=
basic=0Asummary information (Type, Rep, Brief, and Address), a full desc=
ription of the=0Abusiness (including detail about its products and servic=
es, as appropriate),=0AGMCs associated with the business (and their assoc=
iations, if any, with the=0Avarious power groups of OTE), and one or more=
story ideas involving the=0Abusiness. If appropriate, a floorplan and d=
escriptive key may be provided.=0AAs in Friend or Foe?, descriptive sideb=
ars may sometimes be helpful to provide=0Aadditional information related =
to the business or its denizens. Each business=0Ashould be completely de=
scribed in approximately 500 to 4000 words.

Be creative, but also be wary of going overboard. Al Amarja is certainly=
a=0Aweird place, but it also is full of normal people leading ordinary l=
ives. At=0Aleast on the surface, most of the businesses in this book and=
the goods and=0Aservices that they offer represent part of that normalcy=
.

The book is going to be organized by Barrio, with a chapter for each Barr=
io of=0Athe Edge and another for "Greater Al Amarja" (catching any places=
in the=0ABrink, the Burbs, Skylla, Traboc, Freedom City, or the countrys=
ide of the=0Aisland). The address you provide for the business should sp=
ecify where it is=0Alocated.

Inspirational Atlas Games Product Reading: Airwaves (the adventure is=0Ae=
ssentially the presentation of a new Al Amarjan business), Friend or Foe?=
(a=0Asimilar project, but based on individuals rather than establishment=
s), A=0AMedieval Tapestry (Ars Magica sourcebook, similar to Friend or Fo=
e?, but with=0Aeven more by way of informational sidebars). Also you mig=
ht recall various=0Amagazine articles that have appeared for OTE, such as=
=93The Black Death Theater=0ATroupe=94 (The Last Province) and =93Alchem=
y at Al Amarja=94 (Pyramid).

Submission Process

Proposals: Proposals must be received by July 1, 1998. Send all of your=
=0Aproposals in one group by mail, and include the standard submission re=
lease=0Aform, with the title as "'At Your Service' Submissions," to cover=
all the=0Aestablishments you propose. Please do not send proposals by e=
- -mail. You may=0Afax them (along with the signed release form) to 612-63=
8-0084.

Proposals should be a brief paragraph describing the establishment and ho=
w you=0Aplan to approach it. It could be as brief as one sentence, e.g.,=
"A simple=0Alaundromat that serves as a front for CIA operations on the =
island." List the=0Abarrio(s) where the establishment might be placed.

The Next Step: We will review all of the proposals, and will let you know=
=0Awhich if any we are interested in seeing fleshed out fully. First dra=
ft=0Adeadlines should be around the end of the summer; with luck we'll ge=
t the book=0Aout before Christmas. Since we will have your product relea=
se on file, we=0Awould prefer freelancers to submit their drafts by e-mai=
l. One illustration=0Adescription should accompany each establishment.

Payment: Payment is one cent per published word, payable within 30 days a=
fter=0Apublication, buying all rights in the material as "work for hire."=
In=0Aaddition, each author will receive two free copies of the finished=
book. Note=0Athat, if you wish, you may take Atlas Games products (at h=
alf their suggested=0Aretail price) in place of cash compensation.

Subject: [The Edge] Greetings.

Hello. I'm not sure if this mailing list is still active, but my little
brother and I have recently rediscovered On the Edge. In an effort to
seriously kick his ass, I bicycled an hour (both directions) to the only
remaining gaming store in the Minneapolis area that sells On the Edge and
picked up a few boxes of cards (Standard, Shadows, Arcana). However, I
still seem to be missing a few vital cards from just about every conspiracy
(wish list follows) if you have any of these cards and are interested in
selling or trading them, let me know. It would save me a lot of trouble. I
also have a ton of Magic: The Gathering Ice Age and Alliances cards, some of
which I'd be willing to trade, in any case, I'm sure we can work out
something mutually beneficial for the both of us.
